Psychosynthesis Institute: Pi

A Living Circle
The Psychosynthesis Institute (Pi) is held by a living circle of internationally connected teachers, facilitators, advisors, and practitioners. Together, we share a commitment to bringing psychosynthesis forward with depth, integrity, and care.
At the heart of this unfolding are our Facilitator Circle, Advisory Circle, and soon-to-launch Coaches Circle. We are a dedicated and growing community of experienced practitioners and emerging leaders helping to hold, shape, and support Pi’s programs, values, vision, and relational field as it continues to take form.
Within a Wider Field
Pi is one contribution within a wider field of psychosynthesis, shaped by many people in the past, present, and future.
Psychosynthesis continues to be shared through the many programs, centers, schools, organizations, and communities that carry and interpret Roberto Assagioli’s work in varied ways.
Like many psycho-spiritual and transpersonal traditions, psychosynthesis has evolved through periods of differentiation, taking shape in diverse forms as it has moved across places, generations, and communities.
Our intention is to hold this process with care: to honor these distinct expressions while supporting greater coherence rather than division within our individual, collaborative, and collective efforts.
Our Orientation
Our orientation is to offer tools for personal and professional development in service of social transformation.
We honor Roberto Assagioli’s vision that self-realization is not an end in itself, but a first step toward right human relations and a more conscious and unified humanity.
While we will continue to offer professional training, our deeper commitment is to bring psychosynthesis into everyday life through resources, programs, and experiences that support personal growth, self-development, meaningful relationship, and purposeful participation in the world.
Carrying the Work Forward
We are committed to sharing the transformative gifts of psychosynthesis with a wider community and to carrying forward the seminal work of Roberto Assagioli.
His vision of psychosynthesis opened a path toward a more inclusive understanding of the human being: psychological and spiritual, personal and relational, individual and collective.
Pi arises from this living lineage, a lineage shaped through many individuals, groups, centers, schools, and communities around the world.
From Synthesis Center San Francisco to Pi
Our transition from Synthesis Center San Francisco to Pi is one branch within this wider field. It has been shaped over time by the many students, coaches, facilitators, colleagues, and community members who have helped carry this work forward.
We move into this new chapter with gratitude, humility, and a renewed commitment to bringing psychosynthesis alive for these times.
Pi is both a continuation and a widening: honoring the foundations we have received while listening for what is being called forth in this new century.
An Unfolding Shared Future
Together, we are exploring how psychosynthesis can continue to serve personal development, professional training, and social transformation. As Pi grows, we hope to cultivate a living center of resources, learning, relationship, and shared inquiry; a place that supports people in developing greater awareness, freedom, purpose, creativity, and capacity for conscious participation in the life we share.
With Gratitude to the Istituto di Psicosintesi and Gruppo Alle Fonti
We offer particular gratitude to the Istituto di Psicosintesi founded by Roberto Assagioli in Florence, and to the Gruppo Alle Fonti, whose enduring care helps preserve and carry forward the living source of psychosynthesis.
At Casa Assagioli, the home in which Assagioli lived and worked, they tend the archives, manuscripts, library, and many traces of a life devoted to the development of psychosynthesis.
Their work is not only archival. It is an expression of service: safeguarding the integrity of the original work, making its materials available for study and research, and keeping alive the spirit of inquiry, depth, and human possibility from which psychosynthesis emerged.
Across Italy and in relationship with people around the world, the Istituto and Gruppo Alle Fonti continue to offer a vital center of continuity, stewardship, and inspiration.
Their quiet dedication reminds us that psychosynthesis is not only a body of ideas or a set of methods. It is a living lineage, sustained through care, study, relationship, and service.
Pi is deeply grateful for their presence and for the generosity with which they continue to hold the inner flame of Assagioli’s work, at Casa Assagioli and throughout the wider field of psychosynthesis.

Our Guiding Vision
Psychosynthesis Institute – Pi: Tools for Self-Development & Social Transformation
Pi's vision is to make psychosynthesis more accessible to the wider public. We are offering and developing pathways for training and programs for personal, professional, and social transformation.
- Pi exists to support both personal transformation and meaningful participation in the wider world.
- Our work recognizes that inner development and social transformation are deeply interconnected.
- We view our vision and IDEEAL model as ongoing practices of inquiry, reflection, experimentation, and learning.
- Some initiatives will be small. Some will be prototypes. Some will succeed. Some will teach us what needs refinement.
- Our commitment is not perfection. Our commitment is participation.

Our I.D.E.E.A.L. MODEL
Inclusive, Diverse, Empathic, Equitable,Accessible, Learning Innovative
Our I.D.E.E.A.L. model is meant to be a living process inspired by Assagioli's core experience of the Ideal Model.
I.D.E.E.A.L. reflects our commitment to the questions and action on the following:
Inclusion: Who is welcomed? Who is missing?
Diversity: How do we broaden perspectives, voices, and experiences?
Empathy: How do we deepen our capacity to understand one another?
Equity: How do we reduce barriers to participation and opportunity?
Accessibility: How do we make our programs, language, and resources more available to diverse learners and communities?
Learning & Innovation: How do we remain curious, adaptive, and willing to experiment?
Below are our key initiative priorities.
As Pi continues to take form, we will continue adding details, current offerings, resources, and opportunities for connection across each of these areas.

PERSONAL/SELF DEVELOPMENT
The Inner Life as Resources on the Path of Becoming

Our 2025 transition Advisory:
Bill Hobbs - Advisor
Rosa Alvarez- Ulloa - Advisor

Susan Jewkes Allen is the Founder and Director of the Psychosynthesis Institute (Pi). Her work is informed by decades of experience in transpersonal psychology, psychotherapy, clinical social work, teaching, coaching, and the development of psychosynthesis-based learning programs.
Through her private practice, consulting work, Synthesis Center San Francisco and now Pi, Susan has created and guided programs for people navigating life and work transitions, seeking greater purpose and alignment, and preparing to accompany others through growth, change, and transformation.
As Pi continues its transition and widening, Susan is helping to shape the Institute’s foundational architecture, programs, resources, and relationships in collaboration with a growing circle of facilitators, advisors, practitioners, students, and colleagues.
A central purpose of her work is to steward psychosynthesis into its next chapter: mentoring and supporting a new generation of coaches, practitioners, facilitators, and teachers co-creating with depth, discernment, creativity, and care. Through Pi’s training, mentoring relationships, resources, and emerging circles of participation, this work is already being shared, renewed, and carried forward in new forms.
Her intention is not to centralize psychosynthesis around one person, but to help create the conditions through which this particular expression of the work can remain rooted in its lineage of Roberto Assagioli's vision, while continuing to grow through the lives, contributions, and leadership of others.
